During the Covid-19 crisis, political advisor and foreign policy expert Chloe Dalton returned to the northern countryside of her childhood. Out walking one day, she found a newborn leveret, abandoned and alone. Though knowing next to nothing about hares, she felt compelled to give it a chance at survival and care for it as best she could.
Her spellbinding book, “Raising Hare”, chronicles her journey to rear the leveret and help it return to the wild; a journey that brought her to an epiphany about patience, attentiveness to nature, and how we humans mess with the lives of these enchanting creatures whose numbers are in steep decline.
One of Programme Director Caroline Sanderson’s favourite books of 2024, it is a future nature writing classic. Chloe joins us to share the story behind this very special debut.
